Tomato sauce

 
 
  • 1 28-ounce can whole peeled tomatoes

  • 3 garlic cloves, smashed

  • 5 tablespoons olive oil

  • Kosher salt

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Sautee garlic with oil, stir in tomatoes and mash to a chunky puree. Stir in butter until melted. Season with salt and pepper.

Optional: add oregano, basil, other herbs
